Development of MATLAB + FEMM Tool for Induction Motor Analysis and Optimization

Description
We are looking for an experienced electrical/mechanical engineer to develop a simulation and optimization tool for induction motors (IM) using MATLAB and FEMM.

Scope of Work:

  • Develop a MATLAB-based tool that integrates with FEMM for electromagnetic simulation
  • Automate geometry generation of the induction motor (2D model in FEMM)
  • Implement calculation of key performance parameters:
    • Torque-speed characteristics
    • Efficiency
    • Losses (copper, core)
    • Power factor
  • Perform parametric analysis (e.g. rotor/stator dimensions, slot geometry)
  • Implement optimization algorithm (e.g. genetic algorithm, gradient-based, or other) to:
    • Maximize efficiency
    • Optimize torque
    • Reduce losses

Requirements:

  • Strong experience with MATLAB scripting
  • Experience with FEMM (Finite Element Method Magnetics)
  • Knowledge of induction motor design and theory
  • Experience with optimization algorithms

Deliverables:

  • Fully functional MATLAB tool
  • FEMM model integration
  • Documentation (how to use + structure)
  • Example simulation cases

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with motor design optimization
  • Background in electrical engineering / drives
