Development of MATLAB + FEMM Tool for Induction Motor Analysis and Optimization
Description
We are looking for an experienced electrical/mechanical engineer to develop a simulation and optimization tool for induction motors (IM) using MATLAB and FEMM.
Scope of Work:
- Develop a MATLAB-based tool that integrates with FEMM for electromagnetic simulation
- Automate geometry generation of the induction motor (2D model in FEMM)
- Implement calculation of key performance parameters:
- Torque-speed characteristics
- Efficiency
- Losses (copper, core)
- Power factor
- Perform parametric analysis (e.g. rotor/stator dimensions, slot geometry)
- Implement optimization algorithm (e.g. genetic algorithm, gradient-based, or other) to:
- Maximize efficiency
- Optimize torque
- Reduce losses
Requirements:
- Strong experience with MATLAB scripting
- Experience with FEMM (Finite Element Method Magnetics)
- Knowledge of induction motor design and theory
- Experience with optimization algorithms
Deliverables:
- Fully functional MATLAB tool
- FEMM model integration
- Documentation (how to use + structure)
- Example simulation cases
Nice to Have:
- Experience with motor design optimization
- Background in electrical engineering / drives
