Design and Development of an Intelligent Portable ECG and Blood Oxygen Monitoring System Using AFE4400

By Waqas Javaid
Electrical and Electronics Engineer

1. Introduction

In the age of intelligent healthcare and remote patient monitoring, portable physiological monitoring systems are increasingly in demand. This project presents the design and real-time development of an intelligent portable ECG and blood oxygen (SpO₂) monitoring system [1]. The system is centered around Texas Instruments’ AFE4400, an analog front-end (AFE) specifically designed for optical heart-rate monitoring and pulse oximeter applications.

This solution integrates compact, power-efficient hardware and an intuitive mobile app interface to allow real-time monitoring of ECG, heart rate (HR), and SpO₂ levels—ensuring accurate data acquisition and display, even in mobile environments [2] [3].

Renewable Energy Policies in the European Union: Germany Example, Legal Regulations and Alternative Energy Sources

Global climate change and energy security are critical issues shaping modern energy policies. Following the Kigali Amendment, Germany and the European Union have intensified legal regulations and incentives to promote renewable energy. This study explores the historical development of legal regulations, including the Renewable Energy Sources Act and the national hydrogen strategy, alongside alternative energy sources such as electrolyzers, heat pumps, and geothermal energy. The analysis highlights Germany’s leadership in renewable energy transitions and the challenges ahead in achieving energy independence and carbon neutrality by 2050.
